In fact, Evil-Lyn is the REAL Big Bad, and she overtakes Skelegod with the promise of BOOTY! Once again, He-Man is sidelined and the ladies of Eternia take center stage. Even if the polarizing choices will further skew audiences, due credit to showrunner Kevin Smith for his bold attempt to reimagine the entire purpose of the franchise. We sat through Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation Part 2, and it’s actually WORSE than we could’ve imagined. Granted, this may come across as being too ‘woke’ for a series initially intended to sell more action figures of its often highly exaggerated characters. It even relates to the real world by showcasing how easy one can be enticed when presented with an opportunity to wield power and, by extension, control. ‘Revelation’ is about understanding the concept of ‘power’. Those who can put aside their beloved childhood memories and view the show with an open mind will see whole new layers of mystique previously missing from its simplistic premise – that good always triumphs over evil. Meanwhile, Teela taps into the power of socerry passed down from her mother, and engages Evil-Lyn in a battle. As a result, the narrative payoffs and levelled up entities feel well earned, even if fans insistent on nostalgia may disagree. Watch Revelation Part 2 on netflix TOMORROW. Bear McCreary’s sweeping score heightens all the emotions along with the rising stakes. The show never sacrifices its development or motives for the sake of dazzling displays. Although, even then, the characters beats are firmly rooted at the centre. They are stunningly beautiful in staggeringly massive hero moments. In terms of spectacle, ‘Revelation’ unleashes the full strength of its animation prowess, particularly during its big action sequences. It aligns with the whole deconstruction of who these characters are and what it really means to be a ‘Master of The Universe’. This sets up a final confrontation on multiple levels that takes us to the ends of the universe. But for those whose biggest grouch for the show has been its investment into Teela’s arc will likely be further disgruntled as ‘Revelation’ doubles down on her heritage. Insight into the twisted dynamic between Skeletor and Evil-Lyn becomes a crucial turning point, as she realizes she wields more understanding of the sword’s mystique. Meanwhile, the show’s venture into Lyn’s backstory pays off immense dividends. Not only does Adam gain the respect of his friends and family, but it also demystifies the powerplay at the heart of the series. ![]() This brings a whole new depth to the mythology of the power of Grayskull and explains why Adam is the chosen hero of Eternia, despite others having more adept natural capabilities and strength. It turns him into an unrestrained, raging, and animalistic version of He-Man (similar to the Hulk, in a crude comparison). But in an unforeseen turn of events, Prince Adam calls down the power without the sword. He continues his relentless quest for power, following his sole ambition to destroy He-Man. Part Two of 'Revelation' picks up from an extremely risky cliffhanger with Skeletor’s shocking return.
